Marcus Terkildsen Completes Successful LMP3 Test with AF Corse at Portimão

Valuable Experience and Impressive Pace in Ligier JSP325 at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve

MT Raceteam’s Marcus Terkildsen has completed a highly successful test day with AF Corse and 23events Racing at the world-renowned Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, Portugal.

For the 16-year-old Danish racing driver, the test marked another important milestone in his development towards higher levels of international motorsport. Driving a Ligier JSP325 (LMP3) prototype, Marcus demonstrated impressive speed, adaptability and maturity throughout the day while working closely with engineers and experienced endurance racing professionals.

First LMP3 Experience at Portimão

Although Marcus has previously driven an LMP3 car, this was his first experience behind the wheel of a Ligier JSP325 at the demanding Portimão circuit and only his third outing in this category of race car.

Known for its dramatic elevation changes, fast corners and technical layout, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is regarded as one of the most challenging circuits in Europe. Adapting quickly to both the track and the car was therefore a key objective for the test.

From the opening laps, Marcus focused on building confidence, understanding the characteristics of the prototype and establishing a strong working rhythm with the engineering team.

Continuous Progress Throughout the Day

One of the most encouraging aspects of the test was the consistent progression shown throughout every session.

Lap after lap, Marcus continued to improve his performance through a combination of detailed driver feedback, data analysis and small setup adjustments. The result was a steady reduction in lap times and a growing level of confidence behind the wheel.

By the end of the day, Marcus had produced a series of highly competitive lap times, finishing only a few tenths away from established benchmark pace in the car.

For a driver still only 16 years of age and with limited LMP3 experience, the performance demonstrated both natural speed and a remarkable ability to adapt to new machinery and new environments.

Learning from One of Motorsport’s Leading Teams

AF Corse is widely recognised as one of the most successful teams in international endurance racing, with victories and championships across multiple categories including the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The opportunity to work alongside AF Corse and 23events Racing provided Marcus with valuable experience both on and off the track. The day offered insights into professional engineering processes, driver development and the level of preparation required to compete at the highest levels of endurance racing.

For MT Raceteam, the invitation represented an important vote of confidence in Marcus’ potential and future development.

A Bright Future Ahead

What stood out most during the test was not a single lap time, but the rate of progression shown throughout the day.

Marcus once again demonstrated a quality that has become a defining characteristic of his racing career: the ability to quickly adapt to new cars, new circuits and new challenges.

Whether competing in the Ligier European Series, testing GT machinery or stepping into a prototype race car, Marcus consistently shows the determination, work ethic and learning mindset required to succeed in professional motorsport.

The successful test at Portimão adds another valuable chapter to his development and provides further evidence of the potential that continues to attract attention from leading teams within international motorsport.

Thank You to AF Corse and 23events Racing

MT Raceteam would like to extend a sincere thank you to AF Corse and 23events Racing for their trust, professionalism and hospitality throughout the test.

Opportunities like these are invaluable for young drivers and play an important role in preparing the next generation of racing talent.

We leave Portimão with valuable experience, increased confidence and an even stronger motivation for the challenges ahead.

The journey continues.
